Reporting to the Buildings and Maintenance Manager, carrying out a wide variety of responsive and planned repairs and maintenance, across the Buckfast Abbey site, including domestic and commercial properties/buildings:
- Carrying out a wide variety of high quality repairs to a range of properties, predominately developing painting and decorating skills with a view to developing other trade skills
- Attending training sessions with the training provider and complete the learning agreement required for successful completion of a work based Painting and Decorating apprenticeship
- Responsible for keeping any work areas tidy and free from waste materials
- Ensure all work areas are left in a clean, tidy and safe condition
- Observe all relevant health and safety regulations and Buckfast Abbey policies
- To attend meetings, training sessions and conferences as required
- Stock checking and ordering painting and decorating materials as required
- The post holder must also undertake other duties, appropriate to the grading of the post, as required.
Description
Buckfast Abbey is home to a Benedictine Community of monks with the Abbey Church and facilities. It has a manufacturing plant, multiple retail outlets, restaurant, a conference centre, education department and a broad range of guest accommodation.
The original Abbey was founded on its current site around 1018 and grew into a large flourishing monastic complex with some substantial Guest Halls.
