    Who is it suitable for?

    As a trained craftsman you will be involved in the installation of carpets, vinyl, linoleum and rubber and will be working on a range of projects for large and small employers, in commercial and domestic settings.

    The tasks you will be completing will be varied and some will require you to work alone or within a team. Your role will also include preparation of work area and sub-floor.

    What’s involved?
    Level 2 Floor Covering

    This is a combined qualification and therefore involves a combination of demonstrating practical skills in a real working environment as well as understanding the knowledge and principles of the sector. Candidates will complete the following mandatory units along with a selection of optional units, chosen to match their specific job role:

    • Preparing background surfaces for floor coverings
    • Preparing and fitting underlays
    • Assessing and evaluating conditions for floor coverings
    • Installation of either textile, resilient, or timber-based floor coverings
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
    • Correctly moving, storing and handling of resources
